The majority of English native speakers don't understand basic Korean, although they have lived in Korea for a long time. They probably thought they don't have to learn Korean since English is the universal language. But I think such an attitude is very rude. If I have to live or travel to another country, I would try to learn the language of that country, and I think that is being considerate as well as polite to the people living there. I think you are really something. I admire your determination to learn Korean.

Even though most of native English speakers have lived in Korea for a long time, they don't understand basic Korean. I thought that's because English is a global language, they don't need to learn Korean. However, I believe that's really rude thing! If I were them, I definitely would learn their language whether to live or travel there. It means consideration and respect for those who live in the country. I think both you and your enthusiasm for korean are great!
